In the role of Head of Rights and Production, you are responsible for our entire digital book procurement and production chain; beginning with understanding what content suits our customers, and ending with launching it in the local language in all or several of our core markets (Sweden, Finland, Germany, Denmark and Poland). The work will include purchasing rights and ensuring those productions are carried through, as well as running BookBeat's own production. To guide and help when choosing books to produce, you have BookBeat's advanced user data combined with your own and the team’s experience.

Since we use data and analysis to know what kind of books perform best to guide our decisions, being an analytical person is a prerequisite for this role. In addition, you have strong people skills, since you will manage a large amount of contacts and negotiate with agents, rights holders and writers. Furthermore, you are structured and efficient managing projects and making calculations. If you also have the skill to switch between thinking strategically and working operationally you might be the right person for this role!

Your work assignments:

  • Analyze which type of content performs well in our service in different markets
  • Actively search for and contact various rights holders to find and purchase content, negotiate terms and conclude agreements. In cases where we produce our own content you will find and enter into agreements with the appropriate author.
  • Manage digital book productions from start to finish, for translated books as well as own productions. 

As a person, you are commercially driven and have a growth mindset. You have a true “can do” approach and a curious mind. We want the person joining our friendly team to be as collaboration- and service-oriented as the rest of us, and we assume that you will also be happy to share your knowledge with the team.

Experience, skills and interests required:

  • Some years of experience in similar roles, either in the book industry or another industry where you have proven experience of rights purchasing and/or audio production         
  • Experience of using customer insight/data as a basis for decisions         
  • Proven project management skills
  • Speaking and writing English very well is required. Speaking one or more of the following languages is desirable: Swedish, German, Finnish, Danish or Polish.         
  • Courage and curiosity to try new things         
  • A passion for books and audiobooks
