As of fall 2020, we have started to invest heavily in producing our own content at BookBeat. An exciting new chapter lies ahead of us (to say the least) and we're looking for stars to join us on our journey! We’re now on the hunt for freelance translators and editors to add to our network of freelancers. Could you be our next star?

To be one of our freelance superstar translators you’ll need:

  • to fully master one of the following language(s): Swedish, Finnish, Danish, German and/or Polish and have a thorough understanding of grammar, syntax and vocabulary for it/them! Don’t forget to mention what language or which languages you speak in your application.
  • a few years proven experience of translating texts! With that being said, we’re looking for experienced and specialized translators as well as new talents in the industry (but with at least 2-3 years of experience). Don’t forget to tell more about what kind of texts you’ve translated before!
  • a language or literature degree
  • the skill to translate word by word, but also to grasp the larger context and convey the feeling of a text accurately and in a great way
  • great time management & organizational skills

If you also have experience editing and proofreading texts, we’d love to hear more about that in your application!

… and in case editing and proofreading texts is your one true passion, we’re also interested in hearing more about that solely!

To be one of our freelancing champions of editing you’ll need:

  • to fully master one of the following language(s): Swedish, Finnish, Danish, German and/or Polish! Don’t forget to mention what language or languages you speak in your application.
  • a few years proven experience of editing texts! And just as with freelancing translators, we’re looking for both experienced specialists and new stars within the industry (with at least 2-3 years of experience). Don’t forget to tell more about your editing experiences in your application!
  • a language or literature degree
  • strong writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as a passion for polishing texts
  • a keen eye for detail that helps you to easily spot and correct mistakes and confusing wording
  • great time management & organizational skills

Does this tick your boxes? We sure hope it does! If so, please send us your application! With questions, please contact Victoria Vatanskaja at

Ps. As this is a new venture for BookBeat, we're still setting up our first projects and are therefore building a network of freelancers. We will contact you on a rolling basis when projects arise that suits your profile and background! And as our next project might be in e.g. one week or six months, we highly value flexibility.

About us
In 2015, we began our journey towards the goal of offering Europe’s leading service for digital books. In 2020, a few years after our broad launch, BookBeat is used by almost four hundred thousand listeners every month. We are an ever-growing startup company within the Bonnier Group and all members who join our journey have the possibility to make an impact on our development, both in the short and long run.

Today Team BookBeat consists of almost 100 curious and committed “doers”. Are you curious to become part of our team? Cool! The most important thing for those who join our journey is curiosity for our users, technology, marketing, design, books and of course us as an organization. This curiosity drives us to always test out new things in our service and to let our users show us if we’re on the right track.

When you work at BookBeat you will...

  • Work at a prime office location in the heart of Stockholm. If you join the team in Stockholm, you can enjoy free access to a full gym complete with a sauna, or borrow a bicycle from reception to speed off to your next meeting. However! Given the current situation, we're working from home right now. We are SO looking forward to hanging out with both our rookies and veterans at the office again, but until then - BookBeaters are true experts at adapting. We make sure everything runs smootly even when working remotely.
  • Have the opportunity to grow in your role and career. We believe in giving all of our employees the tools they need so that they can be great at what they do. This includes challenging and educational work assignments as well as opportunities for education
  • Enjoy our Friday afternoon mingles (or as we call it Beer O'Clock) and monthly company breakfasts. We see the importance of having a strong team and we organize fun events to make sure we all stay connected.
  • Enjoy very fun (we may be biased) work events. From Christmas parties with our colleagues at Bonnierförlagen to Road Map days ending in a company trip to the spa, we host and participate in all different kinds of fun activities.
  • Partake in Hack Days. Hack Days are a full day dedicated to exploring projects that you might not have time to do in your day to day work. In the past people have done everything from creating an app to be used for marketing campaigns to exploring how to integrate voice and machine learning into our existing product. We’ve even had employees use their hack day to bake sweet treats for the rest of the team.
  • Present at Friday Demo. Every Friday we hold a cross company demo where you have the opportunity to share what you've been working on that week. We believe in cross-functional work and having a weekly demo facilitates this by giving you the opportunity to brag a bit about your hard work and your latest accomplishments.
